venerdi 22 luglio alle ore 19 presso la Italy Point Gallery all’interno del Today Art Museum di Pechino verrà presentata la mostra Altri Luoghi dell’artista Fulvio Tornese a cura di Zhang Peng e Riccardo Tartaglia con la direzione artistica dell’architetto Carla Pinto. Il catalogo disponibile in mostra a cura di Alessandra Del Vecchio giornalista e critica d’arte.
Si respirerà un aria salata, mediterranea, esportata con le tele del pittore Fulvio Tornese, ormai da tempo in viaggio per luoghi disparati ma ancora intrise di sapore nonostante gli imballaggi e lo stress del jet-lag. Cosà la Cina lo scenario di Altri luoghi, un titolo felice che rappresenta il lungo viaggio ma anche la nuova fase in cui il pittore si trova attualmente, effettivamente alla ricerca di nuovi spazi da cui ripartire, attraverso momenti di pausa e riflessione.
Un tempo le città erano al centro dell’interesse del pittore architetto, adesso l’uomo a diventare talmente ingombrante da non poter pi essere ignorato e il suo ego talmente grande da invadere l’intera scena. Ma allo stesso tempo un velo di grigiore indica la sua inquietudine, il passaggio attraverso una dolorosa consapevolezza dei propri limiti e delle proprie terrene e degradanti passioni.
Cosi i protagonisti delle tele sono effettivamente alla ricerca di qualcosa, passano per caso nella scena pittorica, come ripresi da un obiettivo a circuito chiuso che Tornese ha messo l per loro, per riprenderne i movimenti pi spontanei e, a volte, sordidi.
Fulvio Tornese nato a Lecce, città in cui vive ed esercita la professione di architetto, in una felice fusione con la sua passione per l’arte, che da sempre lo accompagna e alla quale sin da ragazzo si dedicato con costanza. Classe 1956, laureato in architettura presso l’Università di Firenze, attualmente architetto presso l’Università del Salento. I diversi traguardi conseguiti nella carriera professionale si accompagnano ad una in cessata attività artistica che, sin dagli anni Ottanta, lo vede tra i protagonisti dello scenario artistico contemporaneo, presente con le sue opere in collezioni pubbliche e private. Tra le partecipazioni pi importanti, si ricorda la collettiva di artisti italiani presso l’ambasciata d’Italia in Kuwait, e diverse mostre personali in importanti gallerie di Barcellona e Milano.
Italy Point nasce dall’idea di fondere la lunga esperienza artistica della galleria romana Tartaglia Arte con i progetti di scambio artistico-culturale dell’associazione Italo-Cinese Fucina. Italy Point si prefigge di creare una rete di scambi che coinvolga pi paesi possibili nella convinzione che l’arte, la produzione artistica contemporanea, sia un formidabile veicolo di dialogo e comunicazione tra realtà, almeno geograficamente, molto distanti.
The exhibition "Other Places" of artist Fulvio Tornese, curated by Zhang Peng and Riccardo Tartaglia under the artistic direction of Architect Carla Pinto will be presented on Friday, July 22nd, at 19:00 at the Italy Point Gallery in Beijing’s Today Art Museum. The exhibition catalogue is by journalist and art critic Alessandra Del Vecchio.
There is plenty of Mediterranean, salty air in the paintings by Fulvio Tornese, which have been travelling for a long time around different places and yet are so steeped in flavour despite the packaging and the jet-lag stress. China is the setting for "Other Places", a well-chosen title representing the long journey but also the new phase the painter is currently experiencing, actually looking for new spaces to start from, through moments of pause and reflection.
Once the cities were the focus of the architect and painter, but now man has become so cumbersome that he cannot be ignored, and his ego is so big that it floods the whole scene. But, at the same time, a veil of greyness highlights his anxiety, the passage through a painful awareness of his own limits, of his own earthly, degrading passions. Thus, the protagonists of the paintings are actually on the pursuit of something, they pass through the pictorial scene almost by chance, as if they were videotaped by a closed-circuit camera that Tornese installed there for them, to film their most spontaneous and, at times, sordid movements.
Fulvio Tornese was born in Lecce, where he still lives and works as an architect, a wonderful blend with his passion for art, which has always accompanied him and to which he has been devoting himself since he was a boy. Born in 1956, he graduated in Architecture from Florence University, and currently practices as an architect at the University of Salento. His various professional achievements go hand in hand with an incessant artistic activity that, since the Eighties, has made him one of the protagonists of the contemporary artistic scene; his works can be found in public and private collections. Among his most important collaborations, a collective exhibition of Italian artists at the Italian Embassy in Kuwait, and several personal exhibitions in major galleries in Barcelona and Milan.
Italy Point was born from the idea of linking the long artistic experience of the Tartaglia Art Gallery in Rome with the projects of artistic and cultural exchange carried out by the Italian-Chinese Fucina Association. Italy Point has as main purpose to create a network of exchanges involving as many countries as possible, in the belief that art and contemporary artistic production are a vehicle for dialogue and communication even between geographically distant realities.
The exhibition "Other Places" is under the Patronage of the Italian Institute of Culture in Beijing, the President of the Regional Government of Apulia, the Councillor for Mediterranean, Culture and Tourism of Apulia, the Province of Lecce and the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscapers and Conservationists of the Province of Lecce.
