Mariantonietta Bagliato nasce nel 1985. Si diploma al II livello presso l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Bari. La sua ricerca artistica è influenzata da un immaginario che trae le sue origini dal teatro di figura. Da anni collabora nel teatro di marionette creato dalla madre di origini praghesi Ivana Bubnova.
Nel campo delle arti visive la sua ricerca volge a creare un connubio tra ricerca artistica e teatro, sperimentando varie discipline tra performance, installazioni, illustrazioni e azioni di arte pubblica. In tutti questi campi, l’indagine è ossessivamente orientata sui temi dell’identità fluida in cui l’io diventa un flusso frammentato della coscienza, un’entità difficile da bloccare.
Nella sua indagine artistica spesso utilizza innumerevoli tipi di stoffe come codice visivo per bloccare il fluire del presente. La stoffa, infatti, diventa il racconto della quotidianità e rievoca memorie inconsce collettive di colori, suoni e atmosfere in cui ciascuno può riconoscere parti di se stesso.
"………in progress"
Il termine “progress” rievoca l’idea di movimento. L’etimologia del termine italiano “progresso” dal latino “progressus”, cammino in avanti, è un concetto che contiene e sostiene le tematiche della mia ricerca stilistica. Sarebbe stato un paradosso “bloccare” il concept in termini specifici e caratterizzanti.
Così, anche il titolo di questa mostra personale diviene un’operazione aperta e continua che si mette in relazione con gli altri, coinvolgendo gli invitati a scrivere sulla riga puntata del titolo la prima parola che viene alla mente, rilanciando immediatamente tutti i pensieri nel tempo del cambiamento: in progress, appunto.
Mariantonietta Bagliato was born in 1985. She graduated at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bari with a second level degree. Her research is influenced by an imagination that draws its origins from the theater. She has been working for years in the theater of puppets created by the Prague-born mother, Ivana Bubnova.
In the fields of visual arts she tries to create an union between the artistic research and theater, experiencing various disciplines including performance, installations, drawings and actions of public art. In all these fields, the investigation is focused on subjects concerning a fluid identity where the inner self becomes a fragmented stream of consciousness, an entity which is difficult to stop. In her artistic investigation, Mariantonietta, often uses many types of fabrics as a visual code to stop the flow of the present. The cloth, in fact, becomes the story of the everyday life and evokes unconscious, collective memories of colors, sounds and atmosphere where all of us can recognize parts of ourselves.

The etymology of the Italian word "progress", from the Latin "progressus" which means walk forward, is a concept that contains and supports the themes of my research. It would be a paradox to "lock" the concept in specific and characteristic terms.
So even the title of this exhibition becomes an open and continuous performance and it correlates with other people, inviting the guests to write the title inspired by the first letter suggested on the label, to relunch immediately all the thoughts in time of the change: in progress, in fact.
