Pure Evil – Echoes – Wunderkammern – Roma

The new 2015-16 art season is starting at Wunderkammern. We are proud to present Echoes, the first Italian solo show by the famed British artist Pure Evil, who has just participated in Banksy’s recent artistic project Dismaland in Weston-super-Mare, UK.

Pure Evil’s show at Wunderkammern, Echoes, explores the theme of memory. Memory is an echo of the past, and just as an echo distorts the original sound and reproduces it differently, memory can also distort the past. Memory can therefore be deceptive, unreliable, and in this sense it can even transform the present, influencing the actions and thoughts of our daily lives in tangible ways. Furthermore, not only the life of an individual alone can be influenced by his or her own memories, but at the same time the group as a whole has a collective memory, at times even stronger than that of the individual.

La mostra di Pure Evil a Wunderkammern, Echoes, esplora il tema della memoria. La memoria è un eco del passato, e come l’eco distorce il suono originale, riproducendolo in maniera differente, così la memoria può distorcere il passato. La memoria può essere quindi ingannevole, non affidabile, e in questo senso può arrivare a trasformare la realtà attuale, impattando in modo concreto le azioni e i pensieri della nostra quotidianità. Inoltre, non soltanto la vita dell’individuo può essere influenzata dai ricordi del suo passato, ma allo stesso modo anche il gruppo possiede una sua memoria collettiva, talvolta più forte di quella del singolo.
