| PELLE KATHARINA ARNDT, PETER DOYLE, JEREMYVILLE, DANNI PANTEL***English Below*** Inaugurazione Mercoledì 25 Gennaio 2023, ore 19:00 26 Gennaio – 10 Marzo 2023 La Galleria Patricia Armocida è lieta di presentare la mostra collettiva degli artisti Katharina Arndt, Peter Doyle, Jeremyville e Danni Pantel, dal titolo “PELLE”. “PELLE” è una riflessione sulla forza istintuale del sentire, della rivelazione emotiva e del suo processo di esternalizzazione. In questa collettiva, “PELLE” si declina nelle sue infinite modalità d’espressione e di lettura: confine tra ciò che è superficiale e ciò che è profondo, involucro che espone e protegge; luogo del contatto e dell’attaccamento, simbolo della relazione fisica ed emotiva dell’essere umano. Le narrative dei quattro artisti si intersecano con temi ricorrenti, ma anche in antitesi tra loro. In Danni Pantel la tela prende vita attraverso una gestualità spontanea in cui l’interazione tra forma, colore, spazio e il rapporto tra questi elementi sono sempre strettamente legati alla sua vita interiore. È il portare in superficie una profondità nascosta e confusa. Man mano che l’osservatore si avvicina all’opera la struttura diventa più visibile attraverso la matericità delle forme e delle linee, le quali a distanza sembrano ancora lisce e definite. Il suo lavoro è un invito ad entrare in questo spazio di tensione tra apparente perfezione e vulnerabilità dell’aprirsi all’introspezione. Altrettanto personale e intima è l’arte di Peter Doyle, che si fa portatore del percorso opposto: dalla superficie alla profondità, andando a scavare lo stato d’animo dei soggetti, restituendone una prospettiva brutalmente onesta. Le sue tele intense e non naturalistiche raffigurano ciò che si trova sotto la superficie. Scava un pensiero o un sentimento e lo preserva attraverso le sue interpretazioni non ortodosse di vita quotidiana, altrimenti banali. La pelle diventa, allora, il limite dell’identità in relazione con gli altri, ognuno nella solitudine della propria intimità, come isole separate e mute. I dipinti veloci e colorati di Katharina Arndt ironizzano sull’estetica consumistica di massa di una società contemporanea decadente e sovrabbondante nel rappresentare la propria vita quotidiana nell’era digitale. “Il corpo rasato appartiene al tema della superficie liscia, senza alcuna resistenza, come una mente conformista” dichiara l’artista; è metafora dell’eterna giovinezza, artificiale, acritica, velleitaria e convenzionalista. La Arndt trasferisce questa idea nel materiale e nel contenuto della sua pittura. Lavora su supporti artificiali come PVC e plexiglass con vernice acrilica lucida. Motivi e mezzi veloci, ridotti, quasi infantili fungono da specchio artistico della quantità e velocità delle scene percepite. Il suo lavoro è la rappresentazione dello psicodramma di una società dei consumi positivista che cerca di sfuggire alla propria mortalità. Per le opere di Jeremyville l’atto artistico sembra risuonare in un percorso collettivo che si completa nella codificazione di un linguaggio comune attraverso un’iconografia universale fatta di simboli, immagini e segni grafici. Le sue silenziose storie a fumetti narrano della politica dell’emozione, della nostra relazione con la natura e tra noi. La natura e la città sono gli scenari in cui ambienta le sue brevi e fulminee narrazioni che spesso toccano tematiche ecologiche. Sono piccole vignette sulla condizione umana in tutte le sue stratificazioni e contraddizioni. Sono rappresentazioni di stati d’animo, di emozioni illustrate con una narrazione circolare dal finale aperto di una storia quasi senza fine. |
| BIOGRAFIE Katharina Arndt Katharina Arndt (1981, Oschatz) vive e lavora a Berlino e Barcellona. Tra il 2000 e il 2005 ha studiato presso l’Università di Belle Arti di Braunschweig, in Germania e nel 2006 Katharina Arndt ha conseguito il titolo di Meisterschülerin di John M. Armleder (1948), artista concettuale, performativo e oggettuale, pittore, scultore e critico d’arte svizzero. Peter Doyle Peter Doyle (1992, Dublino) è un artista autodidatta che vive e lavora a Parigi. I suoi dipinti, che ritraggono personaggi in una vasta gamma di scene spontanee di vita quotidiana, catturano l’attenzione dello spettatore attraverso un fascino interiore e di mistero. Il suo lavoro é ispirato dall’attenta osservazione del mondo che lo circonda e che egli reinterpreta con la propria fantasia a sensibilità. | Opening Wednesday, January 25, 2023, 7:00 p.m. January 26 – March 10, 2023 Galleria Patricia Armocida is pleased to present “PELLE”, the group exhibition with works by Katharina Arndt, Peter Doyle, Jeremyville, and Danni Pantel. “PELLE” is a reflection on the instinctive force of feeling, on emotional revelation and the externalization process. In this group exhibition, “PELLE” is conveyed through infinite means of expression and interpretation: the boundary between that which is superficial and that which is profound, the covering that is exposed and protects, the place where contact and attachment take place, the symbol of humankind’s physical and emotional relationships. The narratives of the four artists intersect with recurring themes but are also in contrast with each other. In Danni Pantel’s work, the canvas comes to life through a spontaneous-gestural process where the interplay of form, color, space and the relationship of these elements are always closely linked to inner life, bringing a hidden and confused depth to the surface. As the viewer nears the work, the structure becomes more visible through the materiality of the forms and lines which, from a distance, seem smooth and defined. Her work invites us into this space of tension between apparent perfection and vulnerability in opening up to introspection. Peter Doyle’s art is also personal and intimate, but moves in the oppose direction: from the surface to the depths, delving into the frame of mind of the subjects, resulting in a brutally honest perspective. His intense and non-naturalistic canvases depict that which lies beneath the surface. He excavates a thought or feeling and preserves it via his unorthodox renderings of otherwise mundane moments. Hence, skin becomes the perimeter of identity in relation to others, each in the solitude of their own intimacy, like separate and mute islands. Katharina Arndt’s fast and colorful paintings ironize the contemporary mass consumerist esthetic of a decadent, abundant society in picturing everyday life in the digital age. “The shaved body belongs to the topic of a smooth surface, without any resistance, like a conformist mind”, declares the artist, a metaphor for eternal youth, as artificial, uncritical, superficial and conformist. Arndt transposes this idea to the material and content of her work. She uses artificial mediums such as PVC film and Plexiglas with glossy acrylic paint. Fast, reduced, almost childlike, motifs and medium function as an artistic mirror of the quantity and speed of perceived scenes. Her work presents the psychodrama of a positivist consumer society that tries to escape its own mortality. As for Jeremyville’s works, the artistic act seems to resonate in a collective journey that concludes with the codification of a common language through universal iconography made up of symbols, figures, and graphic signs. His mute comic stories depict the politics of emotions, our relationship with nature and with each other. Nature and cities are the settings for his short, snappy stories that often have environmental undertones. His cartoons address the human condition in all of its layers and contradictions. They are representations of states of minds and emotions illustrated through circular narratives with open endings and storylines without endings. |

From 2000 to 2005 she studied Fine Arts at Braunschweig School of Art in Germany, and in 2006 she obtained her Master of Fine Arts with John Armleder (1948), a Swiss multi-talented conceptual artist, performance and object artist, painter, sculptor and art critic.
